Automatic door handle lights glitchy, or a feature?

On my 2024 M70 the lights on the exterior door handles that illuminate the area to push to activate the automatic doors are randomly not illuminating. I've checked the exterior lighting settings and don't see a setting for this feature.

When I approach the car, it unlocks, the grill and pathway lighting comes on, sometimes all four door lights are on, sometimes just the driver's side doors, sometimes they stay lit until I open a door, sometimes they go out after 3 to 5 seconds, sometimes none of them light at all.

It all looks pretty random, but I'm wondering if there is a setting I'm missing, or there is a feature where if the sensors see a particular door can not open all the way, it doesn't light.

Does anyone have insights into this situation?
