So I gave in and bought some Adams products

and I was not impressed. I bought some wheel cleaner and iron remover. The wheel cleaner was on par with any other product and nothing in my opinion to rave about.

The iron remover worked well but I have nothing to compare that to. Also hated the fact there was no mention the intake straws need to be trimmed to fit in the bottle prior to purchasing.

I actually like their products. I’ve been using the waterless wash and the detail spray.

I completely agree with you on the straws - it pisses me off because its next to impossible to get it the perfect length

I love their In and Out Aerosol Spray, I use it all over the engine. Smells great. It's the only Adams product I use.

Try Coverall plastic dressing, cheaper and could potentially be better. Smells great too.

I think they're about as good as a ton of other companies. I have a lot of their stuff, and think it works well. So do other brands. Adam's is always on some sort of sale, sometimes a deep sale, and at that point it's a great deal and I buy a bunch.

Not sure why anyone would say it's disappointing. I think it's more that there are a lot of good brands that are all... good. Including Adam's.

What exactly were you expecting? Most of these products, even when chemically different, are basically the same in function across brands with a slightly different scent.

Consider products vetted by curators like Obsessed Garage or Esoteric Detailing

If you want any product recommendations or have any detailing questions feel free to ask or shoot me a PM. Run a detail shop and a detail supply store and carry all the top brands and some industry secrets too. And if we don't carry it can get it for you rather easily.

I use the wheel cleaner and it works well. As for the intake straws, I don't cut them but instead just push into the bottle and let them bend a bit. They don't crimp... just bend and allow you to close the top.

The straws are designed to be that length. Shove them in the bottle and it forces the straw to lay flat on the bottom, which helps you use every ounce of product.

I spent years chasing the best products in each category and grew tired of the goalposts constantly shifting, when in reality, it didn't matter. Detailing is 90% process, 10% product.

I'm a big Adam's fan, simply from a quality and convenience standpoint. Are there better products for each category? Sure, but I have to source multiple different brands with marginal improvement.

I can get stellar results from Walmart products, so this is one of those things you shouldn't overthink too much. Use what you like from a reputable brand like Adam's, CarPro, Chemical Guys, Meguiar's, GTechniq, Optimum, etc.

Adam's Graphene Quick Detailer is a great product and the only one I use, but otherwise I've found there are better out there generally.

Sonax is a great cleaner. I have been using it for years. I just recently tried Griots simply for the cost. It works just as well, cost less and has a much better smell. Sonax has a very heavy chemical odor.

The only product I think it's any good from them is their Graphene Tire Dressing. I Prefer Griots and Turtle Wax over them for all other stuff.

I've got a full body STEK PPF job and did a graphene coating with 303 spray which has worked surprisingly well. I was using Chem Guys Hydrosuds (ceramic) but recently switched to Adams graphene shampoo and was amazed at the shine and hydrophobics. As I cycle through my current supply, I'll probably start using their other products as well.

My neighbor down the street just switched from AMMO to Adams graphene shampoo as well for his Blk/blk X3Mcomp. It looks like a piece of obsidian when he gets done with a detail job.

You are not wrong.
Adam's is slightly better version of Chemical Guys - both are heavily marketed, but Adam's has fewer less crap. They do constantly run aggressive sales, so watching those and picking things up at 40% off can help assemble decent competitively priced supplies.

I maintain 4 vehicles and experiment on all with different products, mostly for fun. I've had VERY good luck with Adam's original ceramic coating, but not with their recently "upgraded" graphene coating. The rest of their products (I have a few, but way more from Gyeon, Griot's, and Rupes) are OK, but nothing stands out.

That is VERY true.
Marketing and social influencer claims aside, there are VERY few differences between most products on the market.

I tend to stick with Griot's Garage stuff. Works just fine and not hyper-expensive.

The only exceptions are ONR, which I'm pretty sure you can use for everything including pouring over your breakfast cereal, and Bead Maker, which does a great job for quick maintenance washes.

With the exception of coatings, the truth of the matter is that it really doesn't make much difference which products you use. They're all more-or-less the same.

After using Chemical Guys Hydrosuds, leather cleaner/conditioner, Hydroleather for the past year and a half for regular detailing, I've switched to Adam's Graphene Shampoo.

I have done three full body coats of 303 Graphene on the car since new on top of STEK PPF. The Adams Graphene Shampoo pops like crazy and seems to maintain the hydrophobic properties of the graphene coat.

Not that Hydrosuds sucks or anything, the Adams seems to have a noticeable shine that seems to support their claim that it replenishes the graphene coat.

Wheels: I tried Sonax but P+S Brake Buster does a better job on the brake dust and doesn't smell like ass.

I'm in the wheel business on the manufacturer side. I have tried most of the wheel cleaners on the market and Griot's Heavy Duty is my recommendation. It's the safest for any wheel finish I've tried it yet cuts through the constant brake dust on stock pads.

I have great luck with Griot's as well. I did graphene coat the rims so I am sure that helps.
