The car came out to 72k with all the options I added. With discounts and incentives I’m getting it for 66k and then factoring in my trade in for $35k, 31k for brand new M340i.

BMW only offers frozen grey and frozen Portimao Blue on the M340i. Frozen black looks really cool so in a situation like this, applying a stealth PPF on his BSM color serves a dual purpose, it will give TGRKush the frozen black look he really wants without having to pay the surcharge for a BMW frozen paint color if they had offered a frozen black paint option from the factory and then the money he saves by not paying for a frozen color can go towards the cost of the PPF. Even if BMW sold a frozen black color for the M340i, to the best of my knowledge BMW doesn't offer touchup paint for their frozen colors. A frozen touchup paint might be available from third party sellers but matching a frozen color can always be problematic. Therefore the prospect of having to deal with rock chips would be an issue. |

I’ve never seen stealth or matt PPF
applied to a gloss paint in order to achieve a pure frozen look from the factory. Theoretically, I don’t think it will achieve the frozen look accurately. Could look interesting anyway. Unless you’ve seen it in person OP, I’d advise caution. Stealth PPF has been designed to go over factory frozen paint. It’s protective, but doesn’t compromise the frozen paint look. |

could mark or tear the film. And, an even harder bump would go right through the film and scratch the bumper. Look up BumperBlocker.com I have a set in my trunk always. Been using them for years. The only thing that works against careless parkers. |

Not true according to XPEL.

I try to DIY everything I can, but some things like this, you can't DIY. Every time I get it quote in the last 12 months, whether it be for automotive related work, service work on the house, anything, it's 2-3x higher than I had in my head. Prices for everything, quite literally are insane.
Over $800 for tint work is insane. I used to fall for it, and insist on the top quality tint. But after about $300 for a midsize sedan, the returns diminish significantly, no body really cares about the heat rejection qualities, and most don't keep the car long enough for the longevity to even matter. PPF install quality can vary widely. The larger point is, why do it? Unless you have a collector car that's a long term investment, it's 6-10k that you're flushing down the drain to the benefit of the next owner. Again, most don't even keep their cars long enough to reap the benefits and it has 0 resale value. |

Everyone says that and then life has other ideas. But if you're truly wanting PPF, stick with the affected areas for rock chips - front bumper, front portion of hood, mirrors, top portion of roof. That will save you significant $$.

Ya I know but I’m sure I’ll keep this car. I plan on modding this car as well so I know I’ll bring the resale value down so why not just end up keeping it. Also, I was thinking of just doing that originally but I want the Satin finish as well 😭

The last thing I would double check is to compare the thickness of XPEL vs. STEK. Last edited by Westside Guy; 09-07-2025 at 07:01 PM.. |
