7k miles warped rotors needs all new brakes etc?
Took car in for service for pulsating feel while braking. Knew it would be the rotors. They are warped. They are saying from my aftermarket wheels which keep in mind have only been on 3k miles. They are a closed face more so but come on these are not going to cause the brakes to overheat and warp. Anyone else had issues?

Excessive heat can be continuous driving up and downhill or aggressive city driving or riding the brakes. Also driving hard in wet conditions or going through puddles with very hot brakes may cause it. Improper installation can be a reason as well since tightening the lug nuts with improper torque can create uneven or too much pressure on brakes and brake pads and brake pad material can be deposited unevenly on the brake surface. It may also be manufacturing defects. I've had "warped" brakes once on my Infiniti G37 and it happened after I was commuting daily in bad weather in a very hilly area full of sharp turns that required a lot of hard braking. They resurfaced the front brakes and replaced the pads. Never had that with any of my BMWs most of which had msport brakes. I always uninstall any aftermarket accessories that may be a reason for the issue before bringing the car to the dealer so that they don’t immediately blame it on anything that is not factory. I'd put the OEM wheels on and bring the car to a different authorized service and ask them to look if it's due to manufacturing defects. |
