Small Battery Powered Light for Detailing

Hey All -

I started washing my car again after buying an m340. I use the ONR two bucket method. I live in a loft building with a dimly lit garage, which makes it difficult when washing.

I would like a small, battery powered light that I can easily move around the car. I have also seen some detailers use a light that they wear around their head. I’m open to either.

Any suggestions on brand and model?

Thanks
B

I have one of those wear-it-on-your-head ones (not this one, but in this milieu) and I can't really recommend it. It gets kind of heavy, flops around, and doesn't really stay put on my head. What I need to try is one of those lights that clips to a hat, kind of like this (no idea if this one is any good - just the first I found).

Edit: not battery powered and not small, but I bought these from Harbor Freight and have been very happy with them. Very bright and easy enough to re-position as needed.

Cheers. Really appreciate it. I’ll check out the second link. I usually wear a hat when I wash the car, so that could be nice.

I’ve seen that harbor freight lamp, but my parking space is quite tight and I don’t have an outlet nearby.

I have a Fenix HL45R head lamp. I use it to walk the dog at night and when working for around the house when extra light is needed. I highly recommend it. https://www.fenixlighting.com/produc...Bo9ewN6m9_LBjj

Thank you. This looks quite nice. I think I’m going to order it.

I received 1 of these as a gift last year:

It’s pretty darn bright for a battery powered light. It’s also easy to move around and store.

Cheers. I saw these as well. These seem lighter than similar options, which would be nice. Thanks.

This looks great. If I don’t go the headband option, this would be perfect. Thanks.

You could always go down the rabbit hole over at reddit at the /r/flashlight subreddit. Good luck!

It's funny: back before the Internet you just picked something and went with it. Nowadays I'll find myself obsessing over reading every review, checking Reddit, etc. just to find the perfect broom (or whatever). On the one hand, it might be better because I might end up getting a "better" product, but on the other it probably wastes a lot of time on things that don't really matter. At the end of the day, how different can brooms really be from one another?

On big purchases, it's great. But on stuff that's ultimately pretty trivial I have to wonder if it's really worth all the time I put into it. The paralysis of choice is a real thing and definitely affects me – having a bajillion options isn't always as good as one might be inclined to assume.

One of my really good friends would spend eight months researching a purchase. Even for an inexpensive home theater receiver. It used to drive me crazy because he would talk about it constantly.

My wife and I tend to make decisions extremely fast. We do research, but come to a conclusion in a short time.

LMAO - this is me. I can go rabbit hole easily and understand that, so I give myself a day to look and read and then decide and buy and NEVER look again. I find I am more happy with my buy if I stop looking after and 2nd guessing myself.

Now with larger buys like cars..........that is a whole other story.
