Audi RS 5 (B10)

She's a pretty but heavy gal. BMW has some work to do with the G84 M3 - but mainly has to keep the weight in check.

It has the EA839 2.9TTV6 which is a pretty good engine, used in several VAG platforms.

Exterior looks amazing, interior not so much. Don't like that it's a plug-in hybrid though.

It's 630hp but the weight is going to be 4500+ lbs I can only assume. Unfortunately the same reason I have no interest in an M5. Too bad because I really think this RS5 looks killer, especially the side profile.

sadly, the AI junk almost always seems to look so much better than the actual car once it is unveiled

Very interesting.
More to come TOMORROW!

"B10 Audi RS5 is scheduled for reveal on February 19, 2026. This next-generation model will be introduced as a 2026 or 2027 model year, featuring a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain paired with a 2.9L V6, with total output potentially exceeding 600 horsepower. It will be available as an Avant (wagon) and Sportback."

Sunroof available? Seems to be a forgotten option on these later performance cars.

I understand the benefits of a hybrid drive system, but for my personal use I would sacrifice the HP, torque, and silly fast 0-60 of the electric motor and battery to save some weight. Oh, and shove a V8 in it.

BMW is going different route with 48v mild hybrid. It honestly shouldn't weight much more than current G8x.

The RS5 looks interesting. The rear electric motor used for torque vectoring is a first. It is heavy, but it is basically two cars in one(ice and ev).

Drivetrain-wise looks like they did a better job than BMW did with M5. Next RS6 is getting similar setup with a V8.

If the G84 is within 300 lbs. of the G80, it's a win. Hopefully it's less than that.

I disagree here. The M5 is a class above the RS 5 in size, packs more power with a V8, but weighs within 200 lbs. of it.

5,200 lbs is insane. It's roughly the same as the current RS5 (lbs/hp). Very disappointed today see this. Unless it's got some crazy trick up its sleeve, the G80 should still be the faster car...not good.

The way the hybrid system works in the RS5 looks superior. It is the same general concept, put a electric motor between the engine and transmission. But the extra 5kw permanent magnet motor on the rear of the RS5 for torque vectoring will be a game changer. The new M5 doesn't exactly get the best driving reviews. The extra weight comes primarily from having nearly 50% more kwh in battery capacity. The RS6 will get same drivetrain layout with a V8 to compete directly against the M5.

The trick it is going to drive in real world 100+km in all electric. If someone doesn't care about such thing, there are other cars on the market.
