Last time 7 Series - This time 2027 S class

I don't know if you recall, but I had a fully loaded 7 series that I loved, which I got back in 2023 when I looked at both the 7 series and the S class. At the time I had thought that BMW had done a better job. This year, I am really excited about the new S class and looking forward to how it drives. My biggest concern with the new 2027 7 series LCI is the large screen in the center of the dash. I thought my old 7 dash was great and they never should have messed with it to the extent they have.

My new S class is fully loaded, no options left off, and is Ireland Dark Green Metallic paint with Shadow Green leather inside.

Congratulations old friend! I’m a bit turned off by the new G70 dash as well, but since I still have about 16 months left on my 2024 lease, I will wait to see it in person before I pass judgement.

My I7 has been one of the best cars I have ever had and I am a born again fan of electric propulsion, so the S Class will not be a consideration until they make a true version as an EV. I’m also not thrilled with MB plastering their logo all over the car. Perhaps I’ll go with a Range Rover EV.

I’m glad you are still enjoying your special orders and wish you the very best with MB this time around.

I hope you love your new S. I’m not a fan of the renderings of what the new 7 will have for an interior, but I can’t imagine it being worse than the massive screen that has replaced the entirety of the dash in the S. I’ve seen it in an E class and it was so glossy and reflective I would have trouble driving it anywhere sunny.

Yes, I guess I’ll second that. I wish Bentley would build a Flying Spur as a full EV.

Congrats. I may me jumping ship after my 760 lease is over. I love my car but the lci interior is looking sub par for a flagship sedan. I am hoping that MB fixed all reliability issues that I experienced with my S580.

Congratulations, very nice color. It’ll suit the shape of this limousine.

Maybe we should wait to give a final verdict until BMW officially releases the LCI. For now, we’re just going off rumors. I also don’t understand how anyone can say the dashboard in the Mercedes is better. After all, there’s a huge central screen here too, plus that awful little screen for the passenger. It looks absolutely terrible. Ultimately, it may turn out that the dashboard in the BMW 7 Series LCI will be just as hopeless as in the Mercedes S-Class LCI

I think the dashboard in the S-Class PreLCI is nicer because it maintains harmony and symmetry. It’s more elegant, whereas here in the LCI they’ve crammed in those awful screens.

I’ll just add that those screens in the Mercedes will look outdated very quickly because they have such thick bezels. It doesn’t look like a car from 2020 or later—to me, they look like tablets from 2010.

This screen is much more modern. The S-Class LCI’s dashboard is already outdated. Apparently, they didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the LCI launch. They sell more SUVs than S-Classes.

Well, out of respect for OP since this is his thread, I’ll refrain from expressing everything I think about the new dashboard. However, I must say that the all-glass dashboard is a big no-go for me or not something I can get behind. On the other hand, I must commend the OP for spec’ing an incredible car. I believe that with the specifications he chose, one can even set up much worse dash than that and still be satisfied with the value for money with such specs he bui;t. I saw his specifications on the Mbenz forum, and it’s clear to me that he made a great decision by investing all of his hard-earned money into building an exceptional car. Fully loaded.. just like I think these cars should be built. Mbenz has a ton of high-end materials and cabins that am sure has the big potential to even address any left-over creaks and rattles from the prev generation. It’s an S63 afterall.. this car is a true monster.

I agree that the GLS new dash and tech is the way to go. Was super confused when Mbenz didn’t add the latest and greatest to the S. Again, for a true AMG S63, who cares anyway lol about the cabin or tech lol.

Congratulations, looks great.

I'm in the same boat at you. Bought a '23 760i because I didn't like the then S class. It was a shame because I had a 2016 and then a 2020 S class and they were both awesome cars. Since I own the 760i, I can wait to see both the new S and 760 in person before pulling the trigger on one.

The new S exterior looks great, but the interior, while improved over the tablet, still doesn't feel like a S class. Liking the new 7 exterior but I'm really worried about the interior and am really hoping they don't completely mess it up.

the S is surely an incredible car. but having driven my i7 for 50tkm now, i really can't go back to ICE.

I drove an x7 around snowy mountains on shit roads, that was a lot of fun - but i can't get used to ICE anymore, especially when thinking driving long distance.

if the S would be electric, i might jump or at least evaluate very thouroughly. EQS: no thanks, yuck...

In the coming decade, Mercedes and BMW will face a major headache over what to do with their product portfolios. I expect both manufacturers to further reduce their lineup of sedans in favor of more SUV models.
On top of that, there’s the problem that they’ll have to introduce both an ICE model and a second EV model at the same time. This makes production much more expensive. The current 7/5 Series are fortunate in that they support both ICE and EV platforms. The next generation of the 7 Series was supposed to launch as early as June 2029, but since BMW has extended the G70’s production run all the way to October 2032, this may mean they’re struggling to figure out what to do. The new generation of the 7 Series was supposed to be EXCLUSIVELY electric.

While there is a manufacturing practicality to a joint ICE/EV platform, there are just big benefits to the packaging of a dedicated EV.
We had a Lucid Air, a car smaller than the current 5 series but with nearly double the cargo space and more or less the front/rear legroom of the 7 series (well, 4" more in front, and 4" less in the rear). The 7 series is 16" longer.

I think this is why BMW has chosen dedicated platforms for the Neue Klasse models.

The DOG for the 2027 MAYBACH came out today, didn't expect it that soon. I think I need to take a look at this before I let my order go too far. I am so close to that price, maybe I need to make the jump?

Would the extra length make it more difficult to daily?
Absolutely beautiful looking car nonetheless

Yes, I think it would, and while I am tempted to get the MAYBACH, I can't get the two seats and console in the back because of my German Shepard, so it will be a fully loaded S-class with the MAYBACH interior finishes, but not the extra length and no MAYBACH badging obviously. The two options to make the interior that way were $29,000 so it wasn't cheap, but I do think worth it.
