FS: 2001 e38 740iL 150k miles - TiSilver on black - salvage/needs work
I am parting ways with my e38 740iL. I have had it for ~10 years ( Bought from Vorshlag in TX ) and I enjoyed the heck out of it, but its time.. Its become a project with accumulated list of things it needs to make it right that I just cant get into. Car has been sitting for like a year ( on a battery tender and driven around town every couple months ). The good: brakes, soft brake lines, KW V1 coilovers and various suspension bits refreshed within ~5-10k miles. PS pump replaced and ABS module rebuilt about 4 years ago. Interior leather is in 8-9/10 shape. black montana leather, non-heated. Door cards are good except for a speaker grill that popped off on driver door. No missing pixels on dash. The bad: Mechanical: Its a salvage title car ( non collision damage ~15 years ago, my guess is hail - was a TX car). Trans is dropping into failsafe mode, (filter and fluid flush did not resolve). PS hard line appears to be leaking. Aux fan has failed ( I recall checking fuses/resistors/etc at one point and they were OK but I might have missed something or tested the wrong thing). Timing chain guides are original but OK so far. Tensioner was replaced, but thats it. Engine seals are all needed as part of TCG job. Cooling systems is probably due. There is an intermittent electrical drain present that I could never ID. Washer reservoir has a leak and can only be filled ~1/2 way. Rear left window regulator failed. Exterior: Paint is pretty rough, with clear failing in a few spots, mostly the hood ( was resprayed before I got it, assuming related to the guessed hail damage). A few spots of surface rust, worst spot is on the roof. The front bumper and fender has some minor damage from a fender bender. Exterior C pillar trim needs to be repaired/replaced, crumbled rubber and marginal clips (they are not on the car but I have them). OEM M-pars are straight, but the clear is failed. Interior: headliner needs to be redone. I did it ~8 years ago, and its drooping in the rear most section again now. B pillars could use some love, broken clip on passenger side. Info/NAV screen has failed. Tint on rear window is failed and bubbled. Will get some images uploaded shortly.
