I currently owned the G12 M760 and here is my personal review for the new 740, it was truly an amazing car!

The problem with the 7er is despite how feature-packed and how much better the quality, it doesn't look like one cohesive product. You can see the good stuff individually but as a overall package, the S Class does a way better job.
The EQS 450 and 580 have lost their German teutonic heritage. I test drove the 450 and while it drove well, the interior of the car was like being in a las vegas bordello with all the flashing led lights and cheap plastic. Cancelled my reservation and it’s now a toss up between the i7 and the Lucid. The Mercedes 500 & 600 S Class has always been a very classy high quality car with a restraint interior. Too bad they decided to change tact completely with their EV models. BMW have done a better job of maintaining their design lines. Yes the grill does get getting used to but look at Lexus with their grills. The i7 looks a lot better with the silver trim and non sports front look. Much closer to the high end Bentley or Rolls limo look.

So very few folks opt for what is called the “Luxury” trim in the USA. I had one dealer GM absolutely refuse to order the car for me, telling me in no uncertain words that my build was “an UGLY car.” I drive by that dealer everyday on my way to my office and the memory of that exchange just makes me smile!😊

I’m not thrilled with the exterior of any of the G70 models, but I much prefer the look of mine over the M Sport cars. I like the fact that I almost never see another “Luxury” trim model on the road.

Anyway, once I settle into the Full Marino Leather seat and listen to the B&W Diamond audio, as I silently glide down the road, rolling into a curve, while the Autobahn Package keeps the car flat & exceedingly comfortable, all thoughts of the exterior styling just drift away. The I7 is a simply marvelous car to drive, especially if having almost NO noise, vibration & harshness is a big deal to you, as it is to me. Cheers!

Seeing this, I'm immensely glad I went with M Sport...

I usually get the M Sport setup on our vehicles but I leased a leftover 2023 i7 from the lot and it didn't have it. I actually like it better on my setup but probably would have ordered it with it (if I placed an order). I love the Oxide Grey on my i7 and yours!

I don't care for the M-Sport on BMW's or the AMG body work on MB's, especially when we are talking about full size, luxury sedans. I like my sedans to be more understated than aggressive looking.

I think all 3 of you have a valid point and I can see all points. Luxury cars are a bit like jewelry…it is almost impossible to spec one in a way that everyone else will fall in love with.

Personally, light-color M Sport is usually my least favorite look. Other than that, I’d still rather be in a lighter luxury trim than in an M Sport spec that doesn’t suit the car because of the gloss smily face. The first 5 or 7 G70s i saw on the road where all MSport ligher color and I truly saw them as ugly. The luxury trim so much better in person than specs, and 100% better than M-Sport light colors. However when the 7 is in a dark M Sport configuration, to me it looks absolutely flawless and better-looking than any other luxury sedan on the road. But again this is my personal opinion not a universal one.

In the end all of you did well cause you bought what YOU like. What I find more interesting is how some people seem incapable of just buying what they actually like. Instead, they become overly concerned with whether random people on the road, or a few loud voices online, might think a car is “too bold,” “too controversial,” or not universally approved enough, only to then settle to a boring option with hypothetical/theoritical public approval that may not be even true, and an interior (actual driver view) that could even be worse, creaks or looks awful. That kind of narcissistic discorder and obsession for outside validation/views is something I will never personally understand.

I could never live that way. If I think a car looks fantastic, drives better or even marginally better, and gives me joy, that is the one I buy. I’m not choosing an option that looks “boring” or “non-attractive”, or less exciting product just to satisfy hypothetical public approval or internet approval. Online hate is always exaggerated anyway. In the real world, and the peace of mind of enjoying the car you personally love is worth far more than trying to please people who are not the ones living with it. That kind of confidence and peace with your own choice is not something everyone seems to have from what I can tell.

I am slowly approaching my 1 year anniversaty with my awesome M-Sport Black Fully loaded i7… and boy what a drive it is. I just came back from almost 4 week vacation to many places, visited many family members too, and rented all kind of cars from korean, to german to Lucid, etc… My brother recently also bought a new W223 that he was kind enough to let me use when we stayed with them as part of our trip. I rented so many cars, and swapped them whenever there was a nice option available. Nothing came even close to the joy I had yesterday when I came back home and took my G70 for a drive.

Enjoy your G70 everyone… This is the very first year that I no longer have any Autotrader alarms or actively search dealer’s inventory. Everything is a downgrade unless am willing to pay 200-300K USD more and get a Spectre or Bentley : ) Even then am not sure if that’s a true upgrade for a luxury sedan.
