BMW 7-Series LCI spied and on the way
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW 7-Series LCI spied and on the way The F01 7-Series has been a real hit for BMW, but the company is not resting on its laurels. An LCI 7-Series has been planned for some time, and should be arriving to market in the near future. The overarching theme of this LCI (stands for Life Cycle Impulse -- A facelift), is to 'not fix it if it ain't broke'. The changes are subtle on the whole and aim to freshen and not re-invent the look. These series of spyphotos seem to confirm what was previously speculated. The overall shape of the headlights is unchanged, but there is now incorporation of the latest LED technology, which is filtering across the BMW range. The kidney grills now have a thicker and more pronounced kidney grill surround, accentuating the grills and making them look larger. The bottom section of the front bumper is re-worked and speculated to be similar to the Concept BMW ActiveHybrid 7 front fascia. The side mirrors now have small cutouts for turn signals, another new trait filtering throughout the upcoming BMW lineup due to safety regulations. Not much is known if there will be changes to the interior, we speculate that if there are any changes, they will be minor. However, there is strong suspicion that BMW's acclaimed 8-speed automatic transmission will now appear on the 7-series, which has not made the transition as of yet. |

You're right. That's why they're updating the exterior in such a shockingly extreme and radical manner.

its a huge success here, it ate the Mercedes' S class sales... given its 6 year cycle, its almost 3 years now... so the LCI should be near. Maybe before the new year?

Actually the F01/F02 7er celebrate their third birthday this week. It was on July 2008 that the car was launched. With market sales in Europe beginning in November 2008.
With the arrival on the market about this time next year it will be on it's fourth birthday and right on schedule for it's LCi. Since it's launch the BMW 7er in it's latest guise has led the market globally in the luxury sedan class. Of course with the vicious cycle which is the luxury sedan segment next year's Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse might have something to say about that. Visually the car gets a slight update but nothing too extreme to alter the looks, the eight speed transmission finally enters the 7er along with engine updates and some new technology from Connected Drive to Efficient Dynamics with a few surprises thrown in.
