Want to buy a used F80, but concerned about transmission durability with engine mods
My buddy told me that a couple guys had their transmission blow up because the stock transmission is only meant to hold up to 600hp to the crank. Don't most guys with FBO and tune hit this number or close to it? What are your thoughts?
He also mentioned that, when buying a used M3, I need to be very careful because most guys probably beat on it. This is getting me a little paranoid regarding my decision. Can someone enlighten me further? Thank you. |

its torque that hurts the dct. (the manual is pretty reliable)
you shouldnt have issues with the dct on stock turbos and pump gas FBO or not. once you do e85 or bigger turbos (550+ wheel torque) upgrade clutch packs (plenty of options you can research on here) most people seem to not have issues as far as either transmission is concerned stock or stage 1 flash tunes on pump ^ just my .02 based on my car and my own research, best of luck. |

You will not have any transmission problems unless you get bigger turbos and you start targeting serious power
Go FBO and if you are still worried, ask your tuner for a conservative map
