I changed the original ignition coils on my 08 E90 M3 with 108k miles as preventative maintenance. They are in good working condition and I have never had an ignition related code in the 10 years I have owned the car. I broke the caps off 2 years ago when removing to change plugs, but that has no effect on performance. Would make good spares or help someone on a tight budget with failing coils who does not want to buy a new set right now. I think some people have 160k or more miles on original coils.
