Broke the stitching
I was somewhat clumsy and leaned my elbow against the side of the chair while getting out of the car. Heard the sound of a tear and was faced with reality. Stitches broke. I realize it was a stupid thing to do, but afterwards I cannot avoid thinking the seat should be able to handle this kind of weight.
I'll just have to get it fixed and go on with life. But I'm curious - What is your impression of the G8X seat stitching and quality? |

It seems like the thread used is more delicate with the higher end leather. I think the M2 has lower quality/tougher leather so the thread required must be a little thicker to hold things together. Sorry this happened. Hopefully an easy fix but I’m not a leather worker or upholsterer to know how difficult that is to repair.

The thread looks thinner there as compared to the silver thread on the rest of the stitching or it could just be the photo.

A friend of mine had a similar thread issue on a few months old M240i and complained to his SA. The dealer covered the cost of the repair.

Have you checked with your dealership about covering it under warranty?

Happened to me the same way in my 2021 G82. Dealer absolutely replaced it under warranty. Mine was full merino black and they were never able to match the color of the two black materials as the leather or dye lots must have changed. Wouldn’t think it would be an issue for silverstone. You need to be conscious of how you get out and avoid rolling out on your arm.

what a shame such a beautiful high-end car and you have to be conscientious how you lean on the seat.

The consciousness of me to use the hand on bottom door sill to level up and lift the body out of the car works all the way since many years that I cant even remember, and created a good habit, especially for 2-door car with very low seat setup.

This same thing happened to me today. So annoyed. Will have them look at it next time I’m in.
