How do you reach the roof?
My new X5 is quite a bit larger - and taller - than I'm used to detailing. I'm much more comfortable with the size of my GTI and M2 and doing my best to find tips and tricks to washing this car a bit easier.
How do you reach the roof? What kind of step stool have you used that you recommend or is there some other, easier way to reach the roof without killing myself! Thanks. |

I open the doors and stand on the kick plates while cleaning the top of my Escalade, X5, and any other SUV I have owned.
A step stool might also work but the door opened and holding on with 1 hand while cleaning with the other works for me. |

I have one of these Little Giant stepladders. Nice platform to stand on and you can lean against the top while you reach out. Was pricey but very well constructed.

I have this one! Perfect height and wide enough that I dont have to get off and move to the next section of the roof.

Extremely light and thin profile. Also store it in the roof box when traveling with roof box installed.

You bought a truck.
I say go with a truck-style solution: https://www.walmart.com/ip/BENTISM-D...YaArqMEALw_wcB

To read h the roof, I use a step stool.
But I also saw a trick from the guys who installed my PPF. To reach the middle of the roof, they would use an entire microfiber towel about 2 feet long, soak it thoroughly in the wash bucket, and drape it flat over the middle of the roof. Then they would gently pull it toward the side edge of the car. Then repeat until you have the whole roof. |

Any ole step stool should work, depending on your height too of course. Our roof is ceramic coated so a leaf blower typically gets all the water off. If not, Chemical Guys Woolly Mammoth towel makes quick work of the water.
