So far not having issues. Learning navigation was enabled again but disabled it. Hopefully will stay disabled.

What do you mean? It seems to be just as good as Tesla S and X with the UWB. Operates the same way, and just about exactly when you are 3ft away from the car no more no less. Locking as you are moving away from the car is probably closer to 10ft.

If you are referring to the “Exclude Home” feature, it’s strictly for exluding the Auto-Unlocking at home. It would always lock at home as you are walking away uness you cancel the entire feature and turn it off.

I've had a Tesla long before they switched their phone key to UWB.... distinctly remember being stuck in a downpour waiting for the car to recognize my phone. BMW always works flawlessly.

I was referring to exclude home and how it only covers auto unlocking and doesn't also cover auto locking as well like Tesla does. Much ink has been spilled here about the decision to only cover unlocking and not locking as well. It is completely useless to me without including both but others disagree.

I was an early adopter with Tesla and have had many Teslas over the years until I switched over to BMW with the I7 earlier this year. I completely disagree about the phone key implementation. I had nothing but Model S, most recently a Plaid, and the Tesla phone key worked much better than BMW for me, especially after Tesla did the UWB update. My BMW is hit or miss such that I carry around a keyfob most times and don't rely on my phone. I am glad to see that others have a better experience.

In this case,I think something is going on specifically with your car or phone that your dealer needs to fix. I had both cars, a new Tesla (2023 model year with UWB) and now the i7. I can confirm with 100% confidence that both worked for me just as good, and both cars were flawless. There was not a single time where the unlock feature in my i7 didn't work or unlocked just at a perfect time and distance. It's flawless every time. In fact, my Tesla would sometimes unlock just too late (like right around the time I am touching the door handle, but my i7 would always unlock at the right time, just a few steps before I reach the door).

I certainly hope you're right. There's been many occasions in the last two years where I've wanted to put something in or take something out of my car and have to first search for my phone to take to my garage to do this -- where I've wished this wasn't the case.

However, my update was successfully completed yesterday, and I just went out and again, switched on the "Exclude Home" setting, hoping all would be well. When I walked away I again heard the auto-locking feature go on. I purposely left my phone inside my house and went back out to see if I could open my car door and nope -- it was locked.

Perhaps I'll give it a day or drive my car once and come back to see if all is settled, and also check to ensure the system has my "home" address and it includes my garage as opposed to the front of my home's physical address -- which I believed was the problem before. I just want my "home" to be where I physically park my car (I live in a modestly-sized home and not a sprawling mansion).

It's just that after 2 years, I'd like BMW to get this "Exclude Home" feature right once and for all....! OK, that all felt good, haha.

I said that the Exclude Home feature for auto “UNLOCK” is working. It’s all working as designed.

Auto lock had never been a part of the exclude home feature

The point is, the new software now works flawlessly (as designed). Some people wish if the Exclude Home also is available for the Auto-Lock, but that’s a feature that was never promised, not a glitch. I personally don’t need that one but i need the Exclude Home feature for auto lock. I can see why BMW made it that way. Maybe later they will add the same for Lock. Users need to call BMW and report their needs. BMW obviously listen and they have always released new features vis OTA; unlike Mbenz which never cared and all their OTAs are superficial

.51 has been solid but there have been reports that the GPS is off by a bit which can impact the exclude home function.

A short drive fixes that.

As for the digital key plus I read that Android 16 has a bug related to UWB which impacts the key function and takes it down to a regular digital key. Random issues…

To be fixed by Google in the next month or so.

This update is definitely solid, only been on one drive since Wednesday (I've been walking places) and so far so good. Just hope learning navigation doesn't keep enabling itself. Don't use the BMW navigation ever, and the suggestions have been irrelevant. It's frequently suggested a DC fast charger... in my gas 740i.

It took until yesterday (Oct 28) for this update to appear in my app. I'll get it installed when it is back from a brake fluid change.
