Replacement Emblem Cost?

Hi Everyone,

The tailgate on our new 50e decided to go past the height limit I set for it (3) for some random reason this morning and scraped the heck out of the roundel emblem against the top of our garage door. No issues since, nor prior, so really not sure what happened. I'd like to get that replaced since the car is brand new but the dealer is quoting around $400-500 with parts and labor, which seemed high unless I'm not accounting for the complexity of replacing it. Curious to get perspectives on that quote/if there's a more cost-effective way to do it. If this is addressed in another thread, please let me know.

Thanks!

Holy shit! Yeah, just buy one from Turner, etc. They're ridiculously priced for a piece of plastic, but holy moly they're not FU-priced like that quote. It'll literally take you ten minutes to replace it.

Take a look at RealOEM to get the part number.

I've replaced the emblems on three different used cars front and rear and they were about $50 each from FCP Euro and simple to install with a pry tool. There's two little grommets you replace as well. Check realOEM.com find the part number and Google it.

If you leave the car sit in the sun it will eat the paint off the emblem. The one didn't last a year. Put some nice wax on them.

Use realoem.com to find the part # as mentioned. You can get the part from the online stores at BMW of Fairfax (usually cheaper) or BMW of Sterling. Buying over the counter is usually more expensive, but get the price & call to see what they'll charge if you pick it up. Good luck!

Stealership = $60 part. $300hr labor, 1 hr minimum even if the job takes 3min. I'd totally diy this one. You can do it!!
Also FYI. I can generally have my local dealership price match if I can find an oem from another genuine parts dealer. Generally they will do it if I send a screenshot for proof. Easy way to save shipping costs.
