Navi & Driver Assistance Pro Not Working
Greetings,
I picked up a 2026 750e a 2 weeks ago (equipped with the Driver Assistance Professional option). So far - love this car. But I am experiencing a couple of issues and wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience. During the first week, the Driver Assistance Pro light would pop up after a few mins of freeway driving after turning the system on. I'd take my hands off the wheel and the green lights turn on - car takes over hands free up to 85 MPH. This worked for about a week. During the second week the systems still activates (cruise control and steering) but the hands free (pro) option never pops up. I also noticed that the navigation location is way off in the car and also on the app. interestingly, the car nav shows the vehicle in one (wrong) location (30 miles away from the vehicle's location) and the BMW App also shows the vehicle in another (also wrong) location (several miles from the vehicle's actual location - but not the same wrong location that is on the in-car nav). I also get the following message "Manual Adoption of speed limits inactive" frequently. Not sure if this related but I didn't get this message in the first week of operation. I called the BMW Genius line. they had me reboot the idrive system but no resolution. I have an appointment to drop it off at the dealer next week. Would appreciate any feedback if you've had the same issue. Separately, I got 800 miles out of the first tank of gas (charging as frequently as possible). So far on the second tank of gas it looks like I will get to 950 miles. Thanks in advance. |

Two things that probably aren't too helpful, but I'll offer them anyway just in case.
First off -- at least on my last (non-BMW) sedan -- I had a nav problem where my car was shown miles away. The fix was the replacement of the telematics module, an expensive electronic part (but was free since I had a lifetime warranty). I'm sure something similar will need to be replaced in your G70. As for your hands-free situation, I will sheepishly admit that I failed to remove the plastic protective film covering the various dash displays and couldn't figure out why I was disappointed that the hands-free driving only lasted a few miles. Happily, at the start of my first long trip just days into ownership, I had that epiphany and saw I could (and did) remove it (on the freeway no less), and it's worked flawlessly since. Evidently, if not removed it can blur the camera that needs to see your face and thus didn't engage for any length of time because of it. This may not be the case with your or other BMWs (YMMV.) In any event, of course it will all be fixed no matter the causes, but for now, sorry to hear of these annoyances. |

Update:
First off, thank you Mike. I had to think about this for a few days, but I am certain that I did remove the plastic (but I did double check). The car spent 10 days at the dealer. They attempted to reprogram the software which failed. The TCB Module was replaced and I believe they attempted to reprogram the software again - which also failed. BMW logged into the car to do a direct reprogram which failed. At some point a battery reset was performed. Reprograming (at the dealer level) was then successful as I understand it. The car is back now. Navi is showing the correct location and the Assist Pro option is coming up immediately after activation on the freeway. I drove the better part of a 50 trip from Orange County CA to Los Angeles just sitting back no hands on the wheel. It did require me to take over a few times but not often. If it continued so to work, it's worth the 2K upgrade price. The My BMW APP is still not updating with the current information or location for the car. I'm going to call the BMW Genius line and see if they can help with that part. If not, then back to the dealer. I'm hoping this was an anomaly as the car was only 3 weeks old when it went for this issue. |

Glad to hear you've had mostly success -- certainly w/the nav and hands-free features. On long drives I love - LOVE -- letting the car drive itself. And yes, there will always be times (for example, when the lanes aren't clearly marked, or on sharper freeway curves, etc.) but that happens maybe only 5-10% of the time (not BMW's fault). Also, I have learned to really trust the auto lane changes when I half-flick the turn signal. It absolutely WON'T change lanes if somebody is near, and I've found when I manually want to change lanes, sometimes it's not safe. So THAT's amazing (or should I say, one of the amazing things this vehicle can do).
I'm with probably 99% of G70 owners where all works as it should -- or at least heck, even my door doesn't swing open on it's own 1/3rd of the time, but I'll live. I suspect some cars like yours might have glitches, but again, it will all be put right eventually and you'll be able to look back and say, "Oh brother, remember when this or that wouldn't work," and have a laugh about it in your "rearview." But since you do sound methodical and pragmatic, I've no doubt you know this already so keep on going through the motions until all is corrected. |

Last Update: In order to get the App to reconnect and show the correct information, I had to reboot the system. Just in case anyone has this issue, this is how you do it:
1. Disconnect your phone from the car completely (I just turned my phone off to be sure). 2. Press the Start/Stop button 3x quickly (you will see a message on the instrument cluster that reads "Diagnostic Mode Engaged (or Enabled)" 3. Press the and hold the volume control (in the center console). You will need to hold the volume control down for a couple of minutes. 4. Hold the volume control down until the system completely reboots and restarts. It will go dark a few times and you should hold the volume control down the entire time until it fully restarts the system. After 10 days at the dealer and the reset I did, the Assistant Professional and Navi are working great. Now the car is giving me a drivetrain error (will post about that separately). The drive, interior, ride quality etc are all amazing. I'm just hoping it's not going to be back and forth the dealer constantly. |

Maybe all this issues you are having have something to do with the problem with the supply and functionality of these chips that make all this systems work ? Because I wanted to order a 750EX 2026 and right now because of geopolitical issues between china, US and the company in Holland where the chips that are part of the driving assistant professional are not available so at this point I can't order the car !! |
