The Car Care Nut review on BMW EV drivetrain
Well, not an i7 review, but let’s say 50-70% i7 review given the drivetrain? Anyway it’s a great video to watch to learn about BMW’s EV drivetrain and other common undercariage BMW design items. For those who knows Car Care Nuts… he literally leaves nothing behind.
Being in an i4 for at about 4-5 weeks earlier in 2025 when my B8 was in service waiting for a part, I can relate to some of the common design/part similarities between the i4 and i7. The engine bay area (to me) “looks” surprisingly very similar, compressor looks the same if not the same, layout of all other parts is the same, but that’s about it, although the interior IDrive screens and software are same/similar. Interior is obviosuly VERY different from the i7 though, so u can skip that part, but the interior in recent BMW fitments is excellent across the entire lineup and he tends to agree with that overall. I’ve learned good things about the EV drivetrain and BMW’s thermal management. It was enlightening especially after watching a lot of his review on Tesla-s and their thermal management. He made a few comments about the range, which from my experience between the i4 and i7, the 7 has fixed that 100% with it’s larger battery and better range. It always delivered it’s 310 miles for me and the estimate is spot on. Last edited by BMW5and7; 11-14-2025 at 09:48 PM.. |
