Securing Bottles in Cargo Area

Has anyone figured out a good way to store bottles in their trunk or cargo area?

I want to store some detail-spray bottle and window wash spray fluid in the cargo area of my X3 , but can’t figure out a good way to keep them 100% secured, without rattling around (ie; noise) and preventing them from tipping over (ie leaking). I suppose I can configure something with bungee cords, but I’m looking for something with easy access.

Use a cardboard box. Upgrade to a detail kit case tote- there are many on Amazon, eBay, etc.
You could opt for the BMW collapsible storage bin, part #s 51472303796 or 51483411744.

Thanks, I actually have one of those. But don’t use it, because I only have 2 or 3 bottles. If I put them in there, they’re going to tilt over and spill, and the rattling is going to drive me insane. I need something like a holster.

Hmmm, maybe I can make something like this work. But I have a feeling the detail bottles aren’t the same diameter.

In my Z4 i use a couple of mesh net pockets attached to the side wall of the trunk. They will hold detailer sprayer bottles, cleaning rags, etc. like these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Sto...7&sr=8-11&th=1

Better yet, something like this. It’s adjustable for different sizes. I can maybe screw a couple of the to a wooden board base.

Thanks. That might work. Did your Velcro stay fastened?

Yes, the Velcro stuck to the material on the side walls of the trunk but, not to the fabric material behind the seats or the footwells in the cabin of the car. The good thing about buying from Amazon if they don’t work there are free returns.

FWIW, I use these too and they're great. I've never had any problem with the velcro becoming unstuck.

I have a milk crate that I have different tools stored in and a Husky tool bag for detailing supplies.

Chemical Guys sells two different sizes in a foldable storage caddy which I like better than the BMW collapsible storage bin because both of them have a handle. I have the larger one which has the additional side pockets, it holds all of my cleaning supplies, etc.

Take advance of the sale they are running right now.

Does the X3 have a storage bin under the cargo floor? I keep an emergency kit back there but it could just as easily handle a detailing kit, plus the cargo area would stay uncluttered.

Doesnt get cheaper or simpler than this - been working for me over 2 years now. You can put one band of elastic or two

I was very surprised when I took delivery of my 2022 X6M and saw that the net and straps on the sidewalls of the hatch weren't there. Were they ever offered in previous X3s? I can't imagine why BMW did away with them. How much could they possibly cost? Something so simple and practical. They were perfect for washer fluid and securing misc small stuff. Oh well.

I use Tmat in everything I own. It is especially useful in a pickup. On my wife's new X1 we just bought the rubber mat and place tmat on top. Its adjustable, does not move and holds everything in place. https://www.tmat.com/?tw_source=goog...UaAqrWEALw_wcB

I took your advice and purchased the smallest cargo net. It works like a charm. The velcro clings to everything in my X3 G45 cargo bay; inside walls, backside of rear seats, and even the cargo floor mat. (2) nets came in the package. Thanks.

Does it just cling to the carpet-like material or does the "tape stickers" have any adhesive involved?

The cargo net has the velcro hooks sewed into its ends. Luckily by chance, mine stuck to all my fabric material inside my X3 cargo bay. Adhesive tape pieces are supplied in case you want to attach the nets to a smooth plastic surface. The velcro is meant to stick to those adhesive tape pieces. In my case, I simply discarded the adhesive tape pieces, because I didn’t need them.

In reviewing the different sizes, I notice not all sizes come with velcro. My 15 x 9.5 size had velcro. The 22.6 x 9.5 size also appears to have velcro.
