INSTRUCTIONS: how to stop BimmerPost website from launching the app

with the lack of "view desktop site" link when viewing BimmerPost content in a website browser on a phone, it automatically launches the app (if installed). we can prevent it from automatically opening the app when clicking on links. i've included both Android and iOS methods

to stop the BimmerPost website from opening the app on your phone, Android users should go to Settings > Apps > [BimmerPost App] > Open by default and toggle off "Open supported links". iPhone/iOS users can long-press the link in Safari and select "Open in New Tab" to avoid launching the app

Android Instructions

• open Settings on your phone
• navigate to Apps (or "Apps & Notifications")
• find and select the BimmerPost app in the list
• look for Set as default or Open by default
• title off "Open supported links" or change "Open web addresses" to "Don't open in this app"
• alternative: use a browser like Firefox and go to Settings > Advanced > Toggle off "Open links in apps"

iPhone (iOS) Instructions (iOS does not have a direct setting to stop specific websites from opening apps)

• Long-press the link you are trying to open
• selected "Open in New Tab" or "Open" from the context menu
• alternative: if the app opens, immediately look at the top left of the screen and tap the "Back to Safari" button to restrict it from doing so in the future
