Touring range
Hi all,
I had my second fill-up yesterday after my DTE decided not to speak to me anymore and just displayed '---' along with the large fuel bowser icon The car swallowed up 51.7 litres which by my calculation means it had a little over a litre left - I believe the tank is 53 litres. Phew. I averaged (computer claimed) 13.5 l/100kms and managed 375kms. Of course the car is only 600kms+ young and the honeymoon period does include some spirited driving... What are you folk's typical experience in terms of touring range? My car is Steptronic in case that makes a significant difference. |

my last range at fill up was 345 mls (555 km) at 3500 mls (5600 km) on the clock. When I purchased her.. my range was 306 (492 km) and that was October 2008 - and I have step as well LOVE IT
I was able to squeeze out and additional 1.8 miles (maybe more) when i ran --- on the range to empty. I was sweating a bit as I thought for sure I was going to run out until the next station... LOL

I did a long freeway run the other day between Sydney and Newcastle (110km/hr limit), and the OBC was reading 8.4L/100km by the end of it. So at 53L, that's a projected 630km to empty! With some spirited driving on the return leg via OPH, the average climbed back into the mid 9s, and I have now done ~500km on the tank and due for a refill.
Back in the real world, I'm averaging 11.4L/100km using 98 RON. The best range I can hope for is around 450-550km per tank, if it runs to empty. Probably better on a Hume Freeway yawn-fest. BTW, the fuel consumption on the car's computer reads 1.4% too low according to my calculations. That's remarkably accurate!

I always get at least 450km before the fuel indicator goes to 50km and gets annoying.
But when all freeway between sydney and newcastle I get around 600km/tank. I have driven about 20km of freeway with the display reading --- without any issues. |

I suspect the odometer overreads, just like the speedo does. This will give a lower km/lt fuel usage than actual. Has anyone checked their odometer out yet?

I got about 620km out of a tank (with a couple of litres to go) on a drive back from Sydney to Melbourne on Sunday.
