WSJ: Honoring 'the King of the Ring'
Nice article in today's WSJ about a racing tragedy 25yrs ago @ SPA. I am sure all of us old guys remember Stefan Bellof and his racing. Lots of bad blood and accusations surrounded the accident with Jackie Ickx and I am sure that opinions of fault abound (Ickx blocked, Bellof was reckless, etc.).
Regardless, let's raise a toast today to Stefan Bellof! |

Already 25 years ago...time goes by so fast. I was 15 when it happened and a at that time a total fan of the 956's and Bellof/Icx/Bell/Mass etc. and Group B rallycars too..... |

Agreed. Those 956's were awesome machines! Everytime I view that accident I am reminded that it's not the 'fall' that kills you, but rather the immediate deceleration upon impact. That car hit the wall and almost completely pancaked.
