Replacement Tires

Hi all,

I need some advice. I need a new set of tires for my 2011 M3, 19". Car came stock with Pirelli P-Zeros. I have already replaced the rear tires once and currently need all 4 replaced. It's my daily driver, I do not track the car. I was looking to get something that would last longer than the P-Zeros, maybe a bit less expensive but not take away too much from the driving experience.

I'm getting between 7,000 and 10,000 miles per set of rear tires.

Thanks!

Michelin Pilot Super Sport seems to be the new benchmark. 30,000 mile pro-rated warranty, though I believe it's only 15,000 if you have staggered fitment.

Tire Rack's objective performance reviews should serve as proof that they're an excellent tire.

PS2 was the OEM tire on this car. It's pretty old and if you look at the Tire Rack tests, you'll see the PSS is better in pretty much every way. I'm surprised the PS2 hasn't been discontinued.

No. If it's run-flat, it typically says something like "ZP" (zero pressure) or "RFT" (run-flat technology).

The M3 does not come with run-flats anyway.

All of these questions are answered on Michelin's website:

PSS better than PS2, yet less expensive. When was the last time you hear a company do that?

Go for the PSS and don't look back, they are amazing tires.

I just called tire rack and they are out of the rear tires. The size I have now are 265/35ZR19, any other dealer you would recommend? Any other size I can put on the rears?

This Discount tire is usually really good about getting tires shipped in if they don't have it on hand.

Do you have the comp package 19's or 220m 19's? If you have the comp package wheels then I would go to 255/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear. The comp package wheels are 0.5" wider than the 220m wheels which makes 255/275 tire fit very well.

Discount Tire can special order them.

If you have the Competition Package (or those wheels), you can run a 255/35R19 up front and 275/35R19 in back. That size is 10mm wider front and rear. Those sizes are also a bit more common.

I have run the 275/30-19 PSS in the rears without a problem.

Fitment is not the problem, it's the difference in circumference.

That's a small difference, just 24 revolutions per mile more for the 275/30.
