Looks like the last spyshot set was covering this bumper and hood bulge.
Spotted this time with a hood bulge covered up which usually means there's an M engine underneath. There's also the big front air bumper intakes and really big brakes on this thing. Perhaps this is a hybrid version, or just an M-sport version with aggressive hood? If it's an M7 there's still a few things missing like the quad tailpipes and distinguishing side M gill/accent. Maybe they're going to add those later. http://www.motorauthority.com/spy-sh...-7-series.html |

they will put an M badge on anything now
the badge itself has less and less meaning every day

Im not so convinced that this is an M car, but might rather be a ActiveHybrid car which seems to be using the hood buldge now (as the X6 ActiveHybrid also has). The car is likely equiped with an "M-Tech" front bumper to make it look nice as the ActiveHybrid will need to look its best on its release to the public. But I'd assume that bumper would be available to all BMW 7 Series' under an M-tech upgrade lineup. The wheels are also OEM upgrades available now on any 7 series and not BMW M wheels.
Regardless, this new front bumper looks like absolute perfection on the 7 Series and from a looks point of view I think they hit a real home run! Now I can't wait to hear what the drivetrain of this car really is...

I couldn't agree anymore... BMW has simply hit a home run with this new design. Looking at the second shot, you can see what appears to be the normal side mount intercoolers. I am doubtful for a hybrid for this particular car but truthfully its not neither here nor there. Its a drop dead gorgeous car!

1+++ This bumper looks sick!!!! So my question is, if they had similar bumpers on the m3 and m5 and 3 series and 5 series sports pack already . why would'nt they use this bumper at launch? and how could they think the original bumper looked good?

![]() Beautiful but probably just an M-sport addition. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to make an M7 when you also have a 760i. Starting to target some seriously small markets if you produce both cars. Don't really need an m7 to compete with the S63 when your base 750i already does that |

I think the main clue that everyone is missing is the fact that there are no fog lights on this car... which is a typical M characteristic.
All the M-Tech cars still have fog lights... so in my view this is most certainly an M7 prototype! Given that the X5/6M have an engine based on the 50i motor... it's also a given that the 555hp V8 will drop right in to the 7 ![]() |

For everyone who thinks its a hybrid - it's not one. If you look closely you will see that the engine cover has a small metal covering. Now, if you look at the X6 Hybrid spyshots you will see that there is a much bigger metal cover on the bonnet. And those exhausts are way to big to be of a hybrids. I think its just a normal 7 M Sport Kit on test.

![]() It has to be Msport or Hybrid car - the car doesn't get that full M treatment with quad exhausts and front is only a bit more agressive. note presence of shadow line window trim - only on Msport and M cars.

There used to be very specific criteria to obtain an M badge. All that criteria is quickly being thrown out the window. Especially with the X6 and X5 M's. A few years ago BMW refused to put an M badge on the X5 4.8i even though it came close to an M car. Now they will put an M badge on just about anything except for cars that should get one like the new Z4 or the 1 series! There should be a 1 series M before an M7. A few years ago many articles were written on how AMG has become just an add on package, you could get a bicycle with an AMG logo on it, instead of what it used to be. The AMG name has lost a ton of meaning in my book. M cars used to be cars that were built to be an M, and while I still believe BMW does more work and research on their M cars then MB does on the AMG cars, it has got to the point that everything can be an M now. M is truly turning into MARKETING not MOTORSPORT. There is no reason you cant put M like tuning in an X6 or X5 or the new 7, I just think that they dont deserve the M badge. As for M sport add ons, I dont care about that put them on all the cars you want, M-tech is a great thing, they can make cars look fantastic, but they still dont deserve an M on the boot.
