For instance, the ID6, ID7, and ID8 cars recently all had similar screens, with variations in size and layout to standardize the software. Nowadays oftware plays a crucial role, and it’s hard to not standardize it across all models. If the 7 was released first, would anyone complain that the ix3 inherited a similar design? No single model owns the new software and layout theme. The implementation is likely to look better and more luxurious in the 7. However, the real concern is whether the software or implementation itself is flawed or outdated. A great example is the Mbenz which quickly replaced its unpopular all-screen design that we saw in the EQS with a newer all-screen design seen in the GLC. This new design has received excellent feedback from everyone, even though they ironically put the outdated design one in the S now. The same applies to the new BMW software and design, which we saw in one variant of the ix3. Experts and actual users who have used it (not just seen a photo online) have praised it as one of the best implementations on any BMW. Actually am excited about how BMW will enhance it for luxury in the 7. It will be similar, but not identical, just like most other iDrive releases. There’s no need for us to be surprised honestly.
Except the ix3 center screen looks like crap and the dash isn’t much better. So in a luxury sedan it simply looks worse.

We will still have see the actual design but posters that saw it say it’s the same setup.

The Mercedes dashes definitely look better and more integrated wether it’s the triple screen under one glass like the S-class or the single screen like the new GLC.

Except they have taken 2 steps back on the dashboard design. I am fine not having the displays integrated into the dash (like the curved ID8-9 displays) but this is worse than a Tesla display. As mentioned I hope it doesn't use the same goofy shape in a luxury sedan but the OS defines it, so almost certain.
No one who has experienced the new displays has had anything negative to say—literally no one. And it makes perfect sense: critical information is positioned at eye level, while the touchscreen is ergonomically within easy reach. Ever since head-up displays were introduced, I’ve wondered why everything wasn’t integrated into the HUD. Now, it finally is.Finally got rid of old goofy designs, now we have a modern clean look. 7 series should’ve gotten this first, as Idrive 10 setup is one of the best things about new gen BMWs.

Ultimately, it can be said that the new 7 Series G70 has received a very subtle facelift, and there is nothing revolutionary about it. Someone unfamiliar with specific BMW models won’t be able to tell the Pre-LCI from the LCI. Plus, many Pre-LCIs have the same wheel design as the 7 Series LCI that was unveiled, namely the Individual Multi-spoke 1055 Bicolor.

There is certainly a major change in the interior. The question is whether the dashboard features leather elements with contrasting stitching, given that in the same spot on the LCI there is a plastic screen under the windshield...

Well, we are discussing this display in a luxury car.
I like the both the i3 and iX3 as well as the panoramic display.
The center display disconnected and unnecessily controversial with its shape.

The interiors look functional although there are questions on material choices but neither car is a luxury car or could be mistaken for one.

The problem is obviously the lack of images and detail so one has to imagine the look and to me doesn’t reflect luxury.

We will see in time.

I love the front od 7 LCI, however I can't stand rear lights and this additional screen for passenger.
Rear lights are similar to iX3 and new X5 - preLCI were slim and stylish.

My love hate relationship with the BMW designs is becoming a long term relationship. Might as well call it a marriage at this point

I received an invitation to the unveiling of the new 7 LCI series this Saturday in Warsaw. If I have time, I’ll go and take a closer look. If I understand correctly, this will be after the world premiere, which is scheduled for April 22.

I need to go back and read the posts from that user who was hyping it up. That interior is a mess…

What were they thinking with that screen that looks like it has a growth coming out of the side…

I'm honestly just impressed when they said it will be practically a new car. I mean, it's not in an engineering sense, but they did change a lot that you typically don't in a refresh because tooling can be expensive.

Of note because they didn't do this much for the G12 LCI:
Bigger tail lights (new metal stamps for the trunk)
Rear center A/C vents (they changed the design. It also looks like they made it longer towards the back. That's a whole lot of plastic tooling they have to change)
Removal of Idrive (expected)
Redesign of center console cup and phone holders
Redesign of front door trims
New M side mirror cover design
Addition of more LEDs on the trim on the front headrests

But I can see where they removed things to maybe recoup some cost:
No more interaction bar.
No open/close door buttons (now embedded on the display maybe?)
Change to iDrive X (instrument cluster and infotainment are usually seperate modules but they combined them in to one for iDrive X)

Honestly, these changes look very suspicious that I feel like the interior pictures are AI. Like why is there a hole on the driver-side cellphone holder? They advertised the interaction bar a lot in the G60/G70 launch and now they just remove it? Why does the center mirror look like that? Where are the homelink buttons? They're going back to physical buttons for the front seat memory settings? Why would they spend more money extending the rear center console to the back and revert the vents from the current design to what BMW considsers outdated?

Anyway, I'll just wait til the launch in a few hours before making more judgement.

Edit: Pics were allegedly grabbed here: https://www.bmw-m.com/en/all-models/...ce-models.html

I don't know about you, but in my opinion, the dashboard is a total mess—chaotic and lacking harmony.

Where is the crystal light strip on the dashboard and front doors?

The front of the car desperately needs a chrome horizontal strip at the very bottom of the front bumper to balance out the height of the hood.

I don’t like the horizontal grille. It’s not elegant enough. I’d like to have the option to choose between a vertical and a horizontal grille.

After my initial enthusiasm following the launch of the 7 LCI, I now feel disappointed. I expected the interior to be even more luxurious, but it’s actually more modest. There is no ambient lighting strip on the dashboard or front doors. The metal grilles for the B&W speakers are significantly smaller than in the Pre-LCI. There are likely no crystal buttons for adjusting the seats on the door panels. This forces the user to use the screen. To sum up—more cheap Chinese plastic screens and fewer luxurious materials such as crystal, metal, or leather. All of this makes me feel that the LCI is less luxurious than the PreLCI.
Additionally, it’s that horizontal grille that makes the BMW 7 Series no longer look so much like the RR.

I really hope that this is AI. Everything feels expected based on previous spy shots but this dashboard does not scream luxury and looks even more disjointed with that tacked-on passenger screen.
The iD X UI is obviously designed for the side-slanted screens but they really make no sense design-wise. Not even modern looking to my eye.

I remember the uproar with the center display on the W223 S-Class, but that thing is old compared to this. We'll see the real thing later today...

I think the plastic crystal led strip is underneath the CF or wood trim, likely inset.
Just wonder if the center console is still glossy plastic. I hope that is going away
